There are a handful of very simple pleasures I hold dear.
An abbreviated list:
- a good cup of coffee
- good conversation
- a properly made grilled-cheese sammich
- a half-smoke from a dc street vendor
These all make me very very happy.
Now. Lately, I have had the pleasure of all of these but one. The delightful, delicious taste of a half-smoke has eluded me for too long.
I ask you, fair reader; Where might I find a street vendor close to Union Station in NW Washington, DC? One would think that the area would be crawling with them, Union Station being a major transit center, but they are nowhere to be found. I assume this is because the food court vendors inside have requested the street vendors not be allowed near the station. Fair, but entirely detrimental to my quest for a tasty post-workday treat on my walk home.
So, where might a NW DC resident find a street vendor within reasonable walking distance of Union Station? Help me out here.

Wish I could help you...
...but I don't go into DC very often, and when I do it's usually when all the vendors have closed up and left for the day anyhow so I wouldn't know. Good luck with that. If nothing else I know that there is a vendor at the top of the escalators at the Crystal City metro stop. I know that's out of your way, but it's the limit of my knowledge. Oh well I tried.July 14 2005, 19:15:36 UTC 6 years ago

But for some reason street vendors remind me of this girl from Bethesda. The rumor was that she blew some homeless guy near the Metro station. I'd like to think it was true, because that's hilarious.
